The first unfinished shapes which come to the surface when I'm working at a new sculpture are the result of attempts to limit uncertainty. When the uncertainty has been controlled sufficiently and the more conscious phase of creating the sculpture has begun, shapes and contours come forward as it automatically, only afterwards explaining its own reasons.

Primary shapes, and other related to these, made use of in a plastic and constructive way, are the basis from which the sculpture comes into being. Movements, directions and concentrations are elements constantly recurring in my work, together or separately. They derive from each other or are contrasting.

It takes a long time for the sculpture to come into being; I need distance and revision in order to fully apprehend the sculpture. The various materials I use make an harmonious unity, yet retain their specific characteristics. They increase the emotional value of the sculpture.
